SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Do you ever read Scripture and find yourself wondering, “is the Bible relevant today?” We definitely feel that disconnect. So we’ve set out to make Scripture meditations that give us a framework for how to start reading the Bible. Join us as we let the Bible be the Bible, and learn to engage with it meaningfully.

Am I Good Enough for God?

Strong. Best of class. Most capable. Brave. Successful. We’re told these are the things we need to be to prove ourselves to others. Buut, that’s not what God is impressed by.

When it comes to our relationship with our loving Father, “Am I good enough for God?” is the wrong question. Check out today’s Scripture meditation for a refresher on what God looks for and delights in!

Psalm 147:10-11

10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,

    nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;

11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,

who put their hope in his unfailing love.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He doesn’t only value strength (v. 10)
  • He values respect and faithfulness (v. 11)
  • He wants us to put our hope in his love (v. 11)

Prayers of Response

Lord, I admit that I’ve been more concerned about gaining the approval of others by _________, than I have been about learning to trust your love and approval of me.

I praise you because you’re a God who loves me because _________, not because of what I do or don’t do.

Prayer Requests

Father, I do believe that you want me to _________. Please help me to do it in a way that pleases you and isn’t for self-gain.

I pray that you help _________ (name) to believe your great love for them, so that they put their hope in what will never fail them.

Prayers of Readiness

As I think about _________, I know that I’m not fully trusting your plan. Help me to grow in trusting you more, even today!

Lord, I don’t feel ready for _________, but I know that it’s not up to me to prove myself. Thank you for that reminder!
