SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

“How to get started reading the Bible”—we’ve all googled it before. No matter how far we’ve come on our faith journey, reading the Bible can be hard! We’re right there with you. We see these Scripture meditations as a way to read Scripture in a digestible way. Let’s start together, one verse at a time!

What a Stressful Day

It’s been a long day. You got to school early to sort out the lesson plan you’re falling behind on, but instead of catching up, Johnny’s mom chatted your ear off for thirty minutes. The kids in your class acted like they had five coffees and a full pack of sour patch kids for breakfast…and to top it all off, you forgot to send your little one’s favorite blankie with him to daycare, so he didn’t nap and is currently screaming the entire way home.

The day is just a hot mess, you’re a hot mess, and you’re ready to unload it all. But of course, you can’t. Because dinner needs to be made, baths, and bedtime routines need to happen.

If you can manage to get to bed at a decent hour, you’ll get just enough sleep to start the whole cycle again tomorrow.

It can be so tricky to find strength to get through days like this! This Scripture meditation is through Psalm 142, and it helped us feel centered. Maybe it’ll help you too.

Psalm 142:2-3

2 I pour out before him my complaint;

    before him I tell my trouble.

3 When my spirit grows faint within me,

    it is you who watch over my way.

In the path where I walk

    people have hidden a snare for me.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He hears our worries (v. 2)
  • He watches over us (v. 3)
