I Need Alone Time

In a world full of constant noise and distraction, sometimes we need to follow the example of Jesus and find a place to be alone.ย

Jesus used silence and solitude to reconnect with God in times when he needed rest. We see this after his ministry grew busy, when he wrestled with grief after the death of his cousin, John, and to prepare for important moments, like the Sermon on the Mount, as well as his death on the cross.

If Jesus, who lives in perfect union with his Father, still prioritized alone time with God, how much more important might this practice be in our lives?

Maybe solitude looks like escaping the busyness of the workday by taking lunch by yourself. Perhaps it means becoming less connected or available by putting your phone in a different room. You might need to try waking up before the rest of your household to take some time to rest in the presence of God before the chaos of the day takes over.

However youโ€™re able to make a quiet space, God wants to meet you there.

Luke 5:15-16

โ€œ15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.โ€
