Reading the Bible is an important part of how we can grow in our faith, but we know many people question why the Bible is not relevant for today. With its old language and confusing references, it can feel irrelevant or disconnected. But these Scripture meditations are meant to help us bridge that disconnect and encounter reasons why the Bible is relevant.
Why Don’t I Fit In?
Different.
As Christians, we’re called to live life differently, and this plays out in many areas. Our calling impacts how we speak, serve, think, make decisions, rank our priorities… the list goes on and on.
Sometimes, this creates tension in our lives and relationships, especially with people who don’t have a relationship with God. It feels uncomfortable. It’s easy to want to go back to old ways to fit in. We all want to feel like we belong. This is a good desire!
But part of the Christian life is realizing we no longer belong with the world; we belong with God’s family. And being a part of that family means living differently, glorifying God, and loving others in a way that invites more people into the family with us.
1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Abba, Father, thank you for calling me family when I was feeling like I didn’t belong in ________.
Jesus, you’ve called me out of _________ and into your wonderful light. Your redemption is the best gift!

Merciful King, remind me of my calling when I’m struggling with _________; help me to rejoice in the purpose you’ve given me, and remind me of all you’ve redeemed in me.
Father, I pray that you’d bring redemption to _________’s life and reveal your calling to them.

Lord who wants me, fill me with the strength to live out my calling today as I _________.
God, thank you for creating me to be different. Give me opportunities to honor you with my choices and my words.
