The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesn’t mean your faith is weak, or that you’re doing something wrong—so don’t get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and don’t know how to pray, or simply don’t feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.
I Need a Mentor
It’s not always easy to figure out the next step—whether it’s in your career, your faith, or just life in general. That’s why finding a mentor can feel like such a gift. Someone who’s walked the road ahead, offering wisdom, encouragement, a listening ear, and honest advice.
But our search for earthly mentors can feel frustrating, even a bit disappointing. Some people give too much advice, others too little. Some don’t listen enough or ask the right questions. Some people treat you like a box to fill or a second chance at life, instead of a person to journey with. And, some people are great… but just not the right fit for you. And the ones who seem perfect? Maybe they’re too busy or already pouring into someone else.
If you’re feeling discouraged or stuck while looking for a mentor, don’t give up hope. And while you seek someone who can help point us toward the future, it’s important to remember that you already have the Holy Spirit, our ultimate guide and helper. God continues to direct our paths and surround us with the right people.
For those longing for mentorship and guidance, here’s a scripture and prayer to invite God into the search and to sit with him in the waiting.
“Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise” (Proverbs 19:20).
A Prayer to Find Mentorship
Wise and guiding God, you’ve never leave me to navigate this life alone. Just as Paul poured into Timothy, and Ruth clung to Naomi, I long for a mentor who can walk with me, encourage me, and offer the kind of wisdom that comes from experience. Lead me to someone who reflects your kindness and truth. And as I learn, grow, and listen, help me to offer the same support to others when the time comes. Teach me to trust your timing, knowing that every step is held in your care. And while I wait, Lord, help me remember that I have your Spirit as a constant friend and guide. Amen.
