This Scripture meditation, as part of our Lent study, aligns our focus on connecting with God as we journey through Lent. Dive into this one below!
Journey Through Lent, Day 24
Have you ever wanted to get back at someone who wronged you? I mean like really give them a piece of your mind and a taste of what they deserve?
We get so caught up on that word—“deserve”—especially when it comes to retaliation. But, how quickly do we forget that Jesus has forgiven us even though we don’t deserve it?
We are called to readily forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness, but because God gives us his grace and forgave us first. Because of that, we can extend that same forgiveness to others.
Jump into this short Scripture meditation below and align your heart to readily forgive others!
1 Peter 3:9
9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
Observations from the Text
- God does not want us to seek revenge
- We are called to bless others
- God desires for us to love each other unconditionally
