SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

A simple prayer is all it takes to connect with God everyday. And if you don’t know how to pray, no worries! We’ve got you covered. Check out this simple prayer below to get started!

The Way of Unity and Peace

You just want to microwave your burrito in peace. But after a stressful day at work, your roommate feels the need to unpack every detail of his latest victory in League of Legends. And he’s not getting the hint that you just need some space.

Maybe he’s just getting on your nerves today, or maybe your rising frustration has been building up for weeks and is totally justified. Either way, you feel hot (potentially misdirected) anger growing and are about to blow up.

We feel ya, friend. Take a deep breath, and invite God in. God is quick to forgive and slow to anger—let’s try to remember to live our Christ-centered lives like him:

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry” (James 1:19)

Try walking through this prayer when you’re upset with a friend:

A Prayer for When You’re Angry with A Friend

Peace-giver, equip me with a patient spirit as I try to process my frustration with ________. Give me a clear mind to identify how much of this is actually a response to my friend, and how much of the frustration is caused by other circumstances. Perfect Guide, in this rising frustration, lead me in the way of unity and peace, giving me self-control over my quick anger. Amen.
