SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesn’t mean your faith is weak, or that you’re doing something wrong—so don’t get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and don’t know how to pray, or simply don’t feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.

I Wish I Had Some Help

No one wants to feel helpless. Or confused. Or alone. Yet, all of these emotions regularly take up residence in our minds.

Jesus knew this. Even while he was physically present with his disciples, we see them feeling all of these things. Yet, they were also able to experience him being with them in the midst of these emotions. Jesus also knew the fear and pain they’d face in his absence.

And so, he assured them that he would never be absent.

Not only is God still with us, the Spirit has made a home in us. Whenever we feel alone, or afraid, or like we don’t know what to do or say– we have the Spirit of our Lord to guide us.

The closer we draw to the Spirit, the more we feel his presence. The more we know that we don’t need to figure out life on our own.

Take a minute to pray with us for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in your life. He’s already there with you. Let’s pray and remain awhile to listen:

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).

A Prayer for the Holy Spirit

Spirit, who in the beginning hovered over the waters, you are dwelling in me now. Make me like you. Helper and Friend, surround me with truth and love. Fill me with wisdom, discernment, and faithfulness. By your strength and guidance, may the love of the Father be illuminated through me. Come now, Holy Spirit. Amen.

We believe a simple prayer like this helps us in our mission to creatively explore how we connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. For more everyday prayers, visit this page!
