SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

The prayer life of a Christian can sometimes become tiresome, especially if you don’t feel like praying at the end of the day. We hope our simple prayers centered around everyday life will provide some guidance and help you grow in your prayer life.

Don’t Take Criticism Well?

Sometimes, criticism makes us squirm a little. Okay, more like every time. We know that feedback from others can be SUPER valuable. And most of us can reflect back on how we’ve grown through criticism.

Yet… especially in the moment, maaaan it can feel gross.

So what’s the deal with that? We know we need God’s help to take criticism well.

Here’s one of the many Bible verses about criticism, (or at least about the pride that often keeps us from receiving it well!)…

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” (Proverbs 11:2)

Join us in this prayer as we try to be quicker to see criticism as an opportunity to discern, learn, grow, and be refined by others.

A Prayer for Taking Constructive Criticism Like a Champ

Wise Father, Wonderful Counselor, you created so many people with unique perspectives and different ways of reflecting the completeness of your image. Be with me as I process feedback about ____________ from _________.  May pride not prevent me from finding the wisdom in this counsel, and may I hold my own opinion with humility. Help me to see this constructive criticism from a person of influence in my life as a gift of your grace to nudge me in a better direction than the one I’d take alone. Amen.

We believe a simple prayer like this helps us in our mission to creatively explore how we connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. For more everyday prayers, visit this page
