SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

The prayer life of a Christian can feel exhausting sometimes. Here’s one of our simple prayers written to help you grow in your prayer life and connect with God, especially if you don’t feel like praying. Check it out!

I’m Ashamed of Watching Porn

Porn. Let’s talk about it.

How many times have you told yourself you were done with it for good? How many times have you woken up, tired and ashamed of watching porn? Like any addiction, it can feel like one slip-up completely discounts all the time that you were doing better.

It can be so easy to think that our struggle with porn makes us a failure and that we’ll never be free of it. But that’s not how God sees us. If we want to make a major shift in an area like this, it starts with inviting God into our brokenness.

“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery…Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh” (Romans 13:12-14).

Here’s a prayer for fighting porn addiction to start the process of letting God into the deepest parts of ourselves.

A Prayer for Fighting Porn Addiction

Crafter of beauty, thank you for the good gifts of sex and attraction. Remind me that each person I see online and in-person is your child, and help me to love them as you do. Touch my eyes, that I might look for beauty in new ways; touch my mind, that my thoughts would be renewed; touch my heart, that I might desire you above everything else. Forgive me for the ways that I reduce your creation to a tool for my pleasure, and give me the power to leave this tomb behind.
