SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Reading the Bible is a fantastic way to connect with God. However, it can be hard to know how to start reading the Bible. So, we put together some Scripture meditations to help you get started reading Scripture

It Feels Like It’s All Up to Me

You’re beginning to feel the pressure, right? You find yourself thinking, “It’s all up to me.” Actually, it’s probably more accurate to say that you can’t remember what life felt like BEFORE the pressure. Like it’s your responsibility to hold everything together. Your family, your friends, your work… it all comes down to how much you can give. And, to feel like you aren’t enough can be devastating. Relax those shoulders, friend. Let out that breath.

Here’s a gentle reminder: you were not made to carry the world’s burdens. We already have “the strong one,” so give these desires over to the Creator of the Universe; he is faithful.

Reflect on the imagery of these verses. How can you rely on God’s refuge and strength in these mountains and waters of your own life?

Psalm 46:1–3

1 God is our refuge and strength,

   an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam

and the mountains quake with their surging.

Observations from the Text

  • He wants to help us (v. 1)
  • We don’t have to fear, even when things are in shambles (v. 2)
  • Even earthquakes don’t shake God’s steadiness (v. 3)
