SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

“Is the Bible relevant today?” Stories from hundreds of years ago, weird names, suuuuper long chapters. It doesn’t always feel relevant. But to read Scripture is another way for God to provide comfort, clarity, and wisdom. These Scripture meditations can help you figure out  how to get started reading the Bible.

Be Patient, God is at Work

Recognizing God is at work frees us to join him instead of trying to do it all on our own. That doesn’t end the frustration or exhaustion we can feel—but practicing peace while being patient is key.

If we feel overwhelmed by all that needs to get done, let’s pause and remember the One who works in us and through us. Check out this Scripture meditation through Psalm 145.

Psalm 145:9-12

9 The Lord is good to all;

    he has compassion on all he has made.

10 All your works praise you, Lord;

   your faithful people extol you.

11 They tell of the glory of your kingdom

    and speak of your might,

12 so that all people may know of your mighty acts

   and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He’s good to me! (v. 9)
  • He’s done so many amazing works (v. 10)
  • He is mighty (v. 11)
  • His kingdom is above all (v. 12)

Prayers of Response

Father, just as you did a mighty work in my life by ___________, I trust you to keep working in my life today!

Lord, I’ve been focused on providing for my own future, but that means I haven’t been trusting you to __________.

Prayer Requests

Since you have compassion for me, help me to have compassion for myself about __________.

Help me to tell of the glory of your kingdom so that ___________ (name) will know about you.

Prayers of Readiness

Father, I need your strength to not abandon _________ (name), as they wrestle with __________.

As I show up to ___________ today, teach me what it looks like to enthusiastically praise you there!
