SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Scripture meditations like this one help us connect with God each day and help us recognize reasons why the Bible is relevant today.

Blessed to Be a Blessing

Even in the midst of disappointment, we are blessed.

Not everything goes our way. We still have big dreams that haven’t come to fruition (yet). But we can’t help but recognize how God has already come through for us, and the many blessings he’s given us.

And instead of keeping those blessings to ourselves, we wanna bless others, too.

Today’s Scripture in Genesis has us reflecting on how we are “blessed to be a blessing.” Join us as we meditate on God’s big promises to Abraham in Genesis 12!

Genesis 12:2–3

2 “I will make you into a great nation,

   and I will bless you;

I will make your name great,

  and you will be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you,

  and whoever curses you I will curse;

and all peoples on earth

 will be blessed through you.”

Observations from the Text

  • Blessings and greatness come from God (v. 2)
  • Being blessed enables us to bless others (v. 2)
  • We are all blessed through Abraham (v. 3)
