SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

On our Lent journey, we’re taking a peek into the lives of everyday Christians just like you and asking, “Why is Lent important?” Dive into our curated Lent study with the super short personal testimony below!

Journey Through Lent, Day 30

We are called to love God and serve others.

Serving others doesn’t have to be something huge or extravagant. It often is quite practical.

Establishing a commitment to serve others helps us to find practical ways to love and serve those around us.

Today, we hear from Anthony Raffa on one of his favorite ways to serve others he cares about.

We encourage you to jump into it, and serve someone you love today!

Testimony Q & A with Anthony Raffa

Q: What is one of your favorite super simple ways to serve someone you care about?

Anthony: I like to call (instead of text) and talk with people about something they mentioned in conversation or posted online. “You asked for prayer about meeting with your boss, how’d that go?” or “You went to Mexico! Tell me what happened!” Rather than make my comment, give them an emoji, and scroll away from people, I’ve found it’s a genuine gift to make time, give them my attention, and grow closer to them. In the social media age, when companies will pay for my time and attention, I can serve others by giving it away for free.

Scripture

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).

What’s a simple way that you like to serve others (or an idea you’d like to try)?
