SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Trying to build a prayer life can be difficult—whether you don’t know how to pray or you don’t feel like praying. So we’re here to help you connect with God with simple prayers for the everyday.

I Don’t Feel Like I’m Good Enough

It feels like you’re just not cutting it

That fight your dad and brother had last week? This time, your best peace-keeping efforts aren’t going to do the trick.

And that stubborn and super unstable client you’ve been pouring into for months? You’ve hardly made any progress.

Honestly, when it comes to life in general, you’re starting to have the worrying thought: “I don’t feel like I’m good enough.” And if you’re not good enough for helping those you care most about, what are you good for?

This is the voice of self-doubt, and we know it well. God tells us a different story.

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3).

So, when self-doubt rears its ugly head and our confidence starts slipping, here’s a prayer for self-esteem we like to reach out for. Maybe it’ll help steady you, too.

A Prayer for Self-Esteem

Author of my story, when it comes to life, I feel so consumed by failure and self-doubt. In the dark spaces, where doubt flourishes and confidence wanes, shine the light of assurance on who you’ve made me to be. Great equipper, empower me to believe your promise that anything I need to live a godly life, is something you give me. And, instead of seeing my limitations as a weakness or mistake, show me how they, too, are an extension of your grace. Amen.
