If you don’t know how to pray, getting started can feel strange. So, check out this simple prayer to help you grow in your prayer life, and connect with God today!

I Feel Really Angry

You know the little character named ‘Anger’ in the movie Inside Out? Why’s it so easy to identify with that guy 😤? We see him blow fire out of his head and lose control and we think to ourselves, yep! Been there. If you haven’t seen the movie… find the gif on your phone.

Sometimes impulse control feels impossible. It can surprise us how quickly we go from feeling okay to feeling completely out of control. And we’re not just talking about anger— emotions, in general, are strong and can lead us to both good and bad outcomes.

If you’re there with us, here’s the prayer we pray when we really need self-control!

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love” (Psalm 103:8).

A Prayer for Self-Control

Patient Father, you are slow to anger and abound in love, help me be like you! Let your peace that doesn’t make sense, fill my passionate heart. Let your kindness and gentleness shape my responses to the circumstances and people around me. Help me follow my anger to justice and clarity. Make my desires be for goodness and truth. Remind me that self-control is a gift, and please help me regulate my responses and impulses today. Amen.
