SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

The prayer life of a Christian can sometimes become tiresome, especially if you don’t feel like praying. We hope our simple prayers centered around everyday life will provide some guidance and help you grow in your prayer life

Worried about a Friend

There are different levels of worry. There’s “I’m a bit concerned.” Or “I hope this works out.” Then there’s the kind of worry that keeps you up at night. The “please, God!” kind of worry. Or in the case of  a close friend or family member who is really, really sick, “Please heal them, God! Please! You’re their only hope.”

And we know that he is their only (and their best) hope.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:26).

Regardless of what type of anxiousness you’re feeling today, here’s a short prayer for a sick friend—something we pray when we are feeling pretty worried about a friend or family member who is really sick. Maybe it will help you too!

A Short Prayer for a Sick Friend

Life-giver, you formed [name] from the dust and breathed life into her lungs—breathe new life in her today. Be her strength as she experiences the weakness of her body. Be her hope as she feels discouraged from this relentless illness. Give her peace as she worries about what might come. Give wisdom to those who care for her. And use this momentary discomfort to remind her of the untouchable hope she has that one day all sickness will be cured and death will be no more. Amen.
