SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Trying to build a prayer life can be difficult—whether you don’t know how to pray or you don’t feel like praying. So we’re here to help you connect with God with simple prayers for the everyday.

So, You Don’t Know How to Witness to a Friend

So you have a friend that you care about, but he doesn’t know Jesus. It’s a tough spot to be in when you don’t know how to witness to a friend

It’s tough, because you don’t want to be obnoxious—like you have an “agenda” to get him saved…but you also really want him to become a Christ follower—to know Jesus, and the true life he offers.

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).

But let’s be real, inviting people to become a Christian isn’t exactly a popular idea right now!

But you are running into moments where it also feels like you should say something.  So what do you do?

Here’s a prayer for a non Christian friend—we pray it when we are wanting so badly for a friend to follow Jesus. Maybe this will help as a step in the right direction.

A Prayer for a Non Christian Friend

Pursuer, who longs for a relationship with us, run after [friend’s name] and bring him to you. Creator, who formed and fashioned [friend’s name] and loves him more than I do, help me trust that he is in your hands. When it’s appropriate for me to speak, give me your life-giving words. When it’s important for me to be silent, help me be a life-giving presence. And in all I say and do, may [friend’s name] come to know you by recognizing your love for him in me. Amen.

The role of prayer in Christian life is powerful and helps us in our mission to creatively explore how we connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. For more everyday prayers, visit this page
