When You Donโ€™t Feel at Home

Sometimes itโ€™s hard to feel at home in the world. Maybe you lost someone who made you feel loved and accepted. Or a place where you felt secure recently changed. Once that special part of your life is gone, the sense of home feels out of reach.

We have a home that will never change and is always within our grasp: Godโ€™s presence. Here, weโ€™re fully known and accepted.ย  We always belong. This Forever Home provides more love, security, and safety than any place here on earth. His presence is with us everywhere. To enter his โ€œshelter,โ€ we only need to think about him, say yes to his presence, and remember all he has done and promised. As friends and places come and go, we can always be grounded in our Home.

Psalm 91:1-4

โ€œ1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

ย ย ย ย will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.ย 

2 I will say of the Lord, โ€œHe is my refuge and my fortress,

ย ย ย ย my God, in whom I trust.โ€

3 Surely he will save you

ย ย ย ย from the fowlerโ€™s snare

ย ย ย ย and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,

ย ย ย ย and under his wings you will find refuge;

ย ย ย ย his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.โ€

  • His presence brings us rest (v. 1)
  • ย We can trust him (v. 2)
  • ย He protects us (v. 3)
  • ย He comforts us and provides safety (v. 4)
