I Feel Stuck
When our present circumstances donโt match up with the life that we long for, it can be hard to give thanks.
We feel stuck. Anxious. Maybe even like God has forgotten about us.
Hilary reminds us of the power of gratitude, especially in seasons of waiting.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.โ
Written by Hilary Frank
488 days. That was the amount of time between feeling a nudge to make a change, and the time it took for everything to align to take the leap. I donโt know about you, but being grateful in the midst of a season of waiting is HARD. Itโs easy to become frustrated, grumble, and try to force things on our own. During these moments, it helps to reflect on the past times the Lord has been faithful. Remembering helps us thank him for what he has done, what heโs doing behind the scenes, and what he will do in the future.
Why It Matters
There can be seasons when it feels like God is not moving. Itโs easy for our focus to shift from gratitude for what heโs going to do, to grumbling about what he hasnโt done. When we give thanks, we see from a lens of abundance, rather than lack. Itโs shifting our mindset to appreciating every circumstance and rejoicing in who God is. In our gratitude, we often are reminded of the greatest gift. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, allows us to embrace the here and now of our present circumstances, knowing God is all-powerful and ever-present.ย
