Waiting for a Breakthrough

Waiting for a breakthrough (in a marriage, a friend’s life, church, family, or work) can feel like a long, dark, hopeless pit. 

But man oh man, does our God move mountains! He stuns us with change we never thought possible, blowing us away.

When the breakthrough finally comes, take time to celebrate it!!

That’s what we’re doing today with this Scripture meditation through Psalm 6. Check it out below. 

Psalm 6:8–10

8 Away from me, all you who do evil,

    for the Lord has heard my weeping.

9 The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;

    the Lord accepts my prayer.

10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;

    they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

Observations from the Text

• The Lord hears those who weep (v. 8)
• He accepts our desperate prayers (v. 9)
• Evil won’t go unpunished (v. 10)

Prayers of Response

God, when I was praying desperately about _________, it didn’t feel like you heard my prayers. 

I praise you for finally responding to _________ (name)’s cry for mercy by _________. 

Prayer Requests

Lord, please accept my prayer about _________, and move in that situation soon!

God, we need your justice to bring peace to _________. 

Prayers of Readiness

Even though it can feel like I’m completely surrounded by people who do evil, I trust in your faithfulness because _________. 

Today, I will choose to believe that you care deeply about _________, even though I can’t see how you’re working right now.
