SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

“How to get started reading the Bible”—we’ve all googled it before. No matter how far you’ve come on your faith journey, reading the Bible can be hard! We’re right there with you. We see these Scripture meditations as a way to read Scripture in a digestible way. Let’s start together, one verse at a time!

Feeling Unsteady?

There’s plenty in our life that shakes us. We might spend years building a foundation of stability that’s based on a certain job, a close knit friendship, or even a thriving church community. And then something happens—a move, a betrayal… or, you know, a worldwide pandemic—and suddenly things feel very, very shaky.

Let’s lean into this Scripture meditation based on Psalm 16, praying that we too will “not be shaken” (v. 8).

Psalm 16:5-8

5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He is secure and satisfying (v. 5)
  • He blesses his people (v. 6)
  • He gives us wise counsel (v. 7)
  • He is steady (v. 8)
