Scripture Meditation: Psalm 16:1-4a

SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Psalm 16:1-4 Do you ever read Scripture and find yourself wondering, “is the Bible relevant today?” We definitely feel that disconnect. So we’ve set out to make Scripture meditations that give us a framework for how to start reading the Bible. Join us as we let the Bible be the Bible, and learn to engage with it meaningfully.

God Fills up My Life with Good Things

God fills up my life with good things…except when he doesn’t, right?

If we’re honest, following a good God doesn’t always feel good. In fact, even when we’re faithfully following him, we experience plenty of distinctly not good things. David (who experienced a lot of not-good things) wrote Psalm 16—and found comfort in the absolute goodness of God.

Dive into this Scripture meditation as we let Psalm 16 guide us into prayer!

Psalm 16:1-4a

1 Keep me safe, my God,

    for in you I take refuge.

2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

    apart from you I have no good thing.”

3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,

    “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He can keep us safe (v. 1)
  • We can take refuge in him (v. 1)
  • He is Lord (v. 2)
  • Being with him is good (v.2)
