Infinite Love
“To infinity and beyond!” This iconic line from Disney’s Toy Story highlights an extraordinary mathematical concept. Synonyms for “infinity” are boundless, never-ending, or limitless. It’s practically impossible to go “beyond” infinity, because infinity never ends.
Amazingly, Ephesians 3 tells us that Jesus’s love for us is infinite! There are no boundaries to its height or depth or length or width. It also says his love goes beyond knowledge. For all that we know about Jesus, there’s a lot more that we don’t know. And it can feel impossible at times to know him and be loved by him.
Graciously, God empowers us by the Holy Spirit to know and accept the faithful, generous, endless love of Jesus.
Ephesians 3:16-19
16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
