Celebration
Celebration
Discover a God who likes to party and his invitation into the good life.
Does God actually want you to be happy?
Between tragic world events, our own everyday worries, and the monotony of life, it can be a struggle to feel joy and gratitude. And you might wonder how much God actually wants us to enjoy life. But if you look closely, you’ll find food, festivals, rejoicing, and all sorts of celebrations in the Bible. Here are some ideas for how to delight in God’s goodness in fun and ordinary ways!
Level 1: Novice
Read Psalm 103:1-22.
Celebrate a friend or coworker by leaving them an encouraging note.
Notice the way the children in your life play, and learn to have fun with them!
Dance…? We won’t tell your old youth pastor.
Level 2: Apprentice
Read Acts 3:1-10. Consider how Jesus has “healed” you, and tell someone your story.
Find a way to laugh! Go to a comedy event, or tell embarrassing stories with friends.
Look up some lesser-known holidays to celebrate (Walk-on-Stilts Day, anyone?).
Find a way to play— an instrument, a game of frisbee, in the ocean, anywhere!
Level 3: Master
Plan a friend’s birthday party, and go over the top! (See John 2:1-12)
Take a day off to do something you enjoy.
Go to a concert or dance performance, and notice the emotions and beauty.
Read about the Festival of Tabernacles in Leviticus 23:33-43. Reenact this by going on a camping trip with friends. Celebrate God’s deliverance in your own lives.
