God Knows Everything about Us

Loneliness can strike even when weโ€™re surrounded by a lot of people. Sometimes, we look at the faces of those we spend time with and wonder, โ€œDoes anyone understand me?โ€

We donโ€™t want to come off as superficial with this answer, but YES! God understands you. Intimately. Because God knows everything about usโ€”not in a creepy, โ€œhe knows everything you do so you better behaveโ€ kind of wayโ€ฆbut a โ€œhe understands everything about youโ€ kind of way. No one knows you on a deeper level.

In todayโ€™s devo, Robyn shares how this brings hope to a type of loneliness that surfaces for her, even when sheโ€™s not alone.

Psalm 139:1,13

โ€œO Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about meโ€ฆ You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my motherโ€™s womb.

Written by Robyn Scott

Have you ever felt lonely even when youโ€™re surrounded by people? I have wonderful friends and family, and a good relationship with my husband, but sometimes I still find myself longing for someone I can talk toโ€”someone who understands what Iโ€™ve been through and gets me.

When I found Psalm 139, I realized that there is someone who knows everything about me, and will understand anything I bring to him. The first verse reads โ€œO Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.โ€ Later, in verse 13, it reads โ€œYou made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my motherโ€™s womb.โ€ย

God made every fiber of my being, including my mind, thoughts, and emotions. He examines my heart and knows everything about me. Even if my husband or my friends donโ€™t know what itโ€™s like to be in my shoes or how Iโ€™m feeling, God does. When I remember this, I know that thereโ€™s no one better who I can talk to about all my feelings, inner struggles, or even just daily life.

Why It Matters

When it feels like no one has been through what youโ€™ve been through or understands how you think or feel, Psalm 139 is a wonderful reminder that God knows you more than anyone on this planet. When you are longing for someone to pour your heart out to, pour it out to Jesus, because he understands!ย
