God Knows Everything about Us
Loneliness can strike even when weโre surrounded by a lot of people. Sometimes, we look at the faces of those we spend time with and wonder, โDoes anyone understand me?โ
We donโt want to come off as superficial with this answer, but YES! God understands you. Intimately. Because God knows everything about usโnot in a creepy, โhe knows everything you do so you better behaveโ kind of wayโฆbut a โhe understands everything about youโ kind of way. No one knows you on a deeper level.
In todayโs devo, Robyn shares how this brings hope to a type of loneliness that surfaces for her, even when sheโs not alone.
Psalm 139:1,13
โO Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about meโฆ You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my motherโs womb.
Written by Robyn Scott
Have you ever felt lonely even when youโre surrounded by people? I have wonderful friends and family, and a good relationship with my husband, but sometimes I still find myself longing for someone I can talk toโsomeone who understands what Iโve been through and gets me.
When I found Psalm 139, I realized that there is someone who knows everything about me, and will understand anything I bring to him. The first verse reads โO Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.โ Later, in verse 13, it reads โYou made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my motherโs womb.โย
God made every fiber of my being, including my mind, thoughts, and emotions. He examines my heart and knows everything about me. Even if my husband or my friends donโt know what itโs like to be in my shoes or how Iโm feeling, God does. When I remember this, I know that thereโs no one better who I can talk to about all my feelings, inner struggles, or even just daily life.
Why It Matters
When it feels like no one has been through what youโve been through or understands how you think or feel, Psalm 139 is a wonderful reminder that God knows you more than anyone on this planet. When you are longing for someone to pour your heart out to, pour it out to Jesus, because he understands!ย
