How many pairs of shoes do you have? What about T-shirts?

In almost every aspect of our lives, we experience whatever the polar opposite of simplicity is. We have more options than ever. As a result, we tend to be more overwhelmed than ever. We tend to spend more than ever. And we are less happy than ever. So maybe it’s time to lean into simplicity, but we’re going to need a lot of God-help for this one! The last thing our culture of consumerism and hyper-customization wants is for us to start living simple lives. So if you want a place to start, what about this Scripture and prayer for simplicity?

Help us find contentment, not in things, but in our relationship with you. Draw our attention to those who are in need and we can help. Give us today our daily bread, and help us to be thankful for it. Amen.
