SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Do you ever read Scripture and find yourself wondering, “is the Bible relevant today?” We definitely feel that disconnect. So we’ve set out to make Scripture meditations that give us a framework for how to start reading the Bible. Join us as we let the Bible be the Bible, and learn to engage with it meaningfully.

Overwhelmed with Things to Do

As we sat down to write this post about feeling overwhelmed, it suddenly felt disingenuous to come up with a hypothetical list of overwhelming things. Because the truth is, our team is SO in a season of overwhelmed-ness.

So we paused to take an informal team survey.

When it comes to feeling overwhelmed, here’s what (very quickly) rose to the surface for us:

  • a heavy workload that adds pressure to the day
  • all the things I’ve said “yes” to!
  • too many big life and routine changes bombarding me all at once!
  • a hectic schedule during a time that was supposed to be a break
  • navigating a long distance relationship
  • waiting on hold with the doctor trying to reschedule appointments

Think about what’s overwhelming you as we work through this Scripture meditation. Join us as we do our best to run to God as our refuge through it all!

Psalm 61:1-3

1 Hear my cry, O God;

    listen to my prayer.

2 From the ends of the earth I call to you,

    I call as my heart grows faint;

    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For you have been my refuge,

    a strong tower against the foe.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He hears our prayers (v. 1)
  • In our weakness, he is our strength (v. 2)
  • He is stronger than whatever burdens us (v. 3)
