SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Trying to build a prayer life can be difficult—whether you don’t know how to pray or you don’t feel like praying. So we’re here to help you connect with God with simple prayers for the everyday.

Have a Good Hiding Spot?

Broken eggs. Spills. Chubby little fingers dyed every color under the sun. The clean-up afterward. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the complex (and messy!) realities of our traditions, we can overlook their true intent– an opportunity to point our ordinary toward something extraordinary.

As we work towards releasing the stress that can arise from what we want to be a joyous occasion, may we recognize the holiness in the midst of the mess.

And later tonight (or early tomorrow morning), when our small ones are in bed, and the rest of our Easter preparations are underway, let us take a moment to invite God into this sacred, ordinary moment.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” (1 Peter 1:3).

A Prayer for Hiding Easter Eggs

Lord of the seen and unseen, you dwell in hidden places. Come alongside me as the world falls into darkness. Tonight, as I conceal these symbols of new life, may I contemplate the grief of Good Friday. As I fall asleep, may I anticipate the joy of your coming resurrection. And, in the morning, may the delight of discovery thin the veil and give us a glimpse of your Kingdom to come. Amen.

We believe a simple prayer like this helps us in our mission to creatively explore how we connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. For more everyday prayers, visit this page!
