SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesn’t mean your faith is weak, or that you’re doing something wrong—so don’t get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and don’t know how to pray, or simply don’t feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.

Struggling with a self-destructive, compulsive behavior or addiction? Don’t let shame drive you into isolation. Addiction is a disease, and we all need help.

If you’re looking for Bible verses about addiction, check out two of our favorite encouraging verses!

“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” (Psalm 3:3)

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

As we gaze together at our brokenness in light of God’s goodness, we don’t find condemnation. We find grace and strength to walk in freedom. Join us in this prayer for freedom from self destructive habits!

A Prayer for Freedom from Self Destructive Habits

God of compassion, forgive me for this self-destructive and compulsive behavior. My Savior, who rescues me from shame and fear, remind me that you do not condemn me, and help me not to condemn myself. My Shield, who defends me from temptation, and delivers me from evil, surround me with your grace that is sufficient for my weakness, your love that covers my sin, and your kindness that invites me to find freedom and victory. Amen.
