Trying to build a prayer life can be difficultโwhether you donโt know how to pray or you donโt feel like praying. So weโre here to help you connect with God with simple prayers for the everyday.ย
I Donโt Know What to Do
Decisions have difficulty levels.ย
Level 1: Which cereal do I want: Panda Puffs or Captain Crunch with Berries?ย
Level 5: Which college should I go to: state college or the big U?ย
Level 12: Is this the person I should marry? Should I take that job?ย
You probably donโt need this prayer if youโre standing in the cereal aisle at the grocery store, but if you do, by all meansโmay the Lord help you grab the right box. If youโre on a level 5 or up? You may be completely stressed out right now, well, if youโre human that is. Vulcans just make decisions based on the numbers. But if youโre human, and stressed out about your decisions, we have been there SOOOOO many times. Thatโs why we wrote this prayer. And just so you know, as we pull this together, weโre praying that you, wherever you are and whatever decision you are facing, would feel Godโs real and tangible presence and peace in your decision.ย
โThe human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the stepsโ (Proverbs 16:9, NRSV).
A Prayer for Decision Making
Provider and Guide, please direct my steps. Peace-giver, fill me with deep breaths of trust in you as I consider the options before me. Faithful Friend, thank you that you do not leave me on my own, but walk with me through these decisions. Surround me with the right advice. Remove any options that would lead me away from your best. And help me trust that as I plan my way, you will guide my path. Amen.ย
