SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

The prayer life of a Christian can feel exhausting sometimes. Here is one of our simple prayers written to help you grow in your prayer life and connect with God, especially if you don’t feel like praying. Check it out!

Will There Be a Snow Day?

There are few things that bring as much anticipation as a potential snow day. It starts with the weather forecast…a chance of snow. Then it starts falling. First just a little bit, and then a little more. It accumulates on the mulch. And then the deck. And then the grass starts turning white. Could it be? Will there be? Enough snow to cancel everything we have going on tomorrow?

For some of us, snow days are exciting. For others, this means missed opportunities, a missed school lunch, or perhaps more stress. Regardless of whether or not a potential snow day is good news or bad news, here’s a prayer that connects us with God when the white stuff starts falling.

“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?” (Job 38:22-23).

A Prayer for a Snow Day

Wielder of weather, who controls the wind and waves, and manages the storehouses of snow, thank you for this snow day. May the quiet hush of creation prepare us to hear your still small voice. May the cold increase our desire for the warmth of your love. May this interruption make us more open to your timing for all things. And may this day remind us that you wash our sins white as snow. Amen.
