Divorce Is Hard and Exhausting
You never imagined getting to this point. This isnโt what you envisioned for your life. And yet here you are: your heart is broken, you feel betrayed, and your emotional capacity is completely drained. Divorce is hard.ย
You have no option to go through this struggle in privacy. No, no. Instead, your entire church, your familyโeven your coworkersโget a front row seat to the unfolding of one of the hardest seasons youโve ever experienced. And wow, do so many people have opinions about this!
Getting up every morning is a struggle, and you long for a dayโeven just one dayโwhere you could pretend this isnโt your new reality. Even when itโs tough to believe, we know that our good, good Father is near, and that heโs present with you in your brokenheartedness:ย
โThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spiritโ (Psalm 34:18).
As you find yourself grasping for new strength for another day, consider praying this with us:
A Prayer for Strength During Divorce
Gracious deliverer, help me believe youโre close to my broken heart, and with me in this pain. Provider God, grant me reprieve from the burdensome task of explaining the details of my pain to near-strangers, but bring close some burden-bearing friends to walk lovingly with me through this time. Help meย trust that you have good things in store for me, and that you will deliver me. Despite all that Iโve lost, I count on you to help me find new joy and hope for today. Amen.
