SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Reading the Bible is a fantastic way to connect with God. However, it can be hard to know how to start reading the Bible. So, we put together some Scripture meditations to help you get started reading Scripture

God is Our Shield

God’s justice is a comforting idea when we’re thinking about other people’s wrong-ness.

But, when we start thinking about our own mistakes, suddenly it can feel pretty intimidating.

Today, we’re meditating on a passage of Scripture that addresses how God is our shield and protection, but also highlights God’s wrath. Dive in with us!

Psalm 7:10–11

10 My shield is God Most High,

who saves the upright in heart.

11 God is a righteous judge,

a God who displays his wrath every day.

Observations from the Text

  • God protects (v. 10)
  • God saves (v.10)
  • God’s judgment is right (v. 11)
  • God has wrath (v. 11)

Prayers of Response

God, I’m intimidated by the idea of you “displaying your wrath every day” because _________.

I can trust you to shield me from _________ because you, God Most High, are my God!

Prayer Requests

Father, it doesn’t feel like I have an “upright heart” because _________. Please give me a pure heart that looks to you for help!

Please protect _________ (name) from the temptation of _________. Lead them to love you more.

Prayers of Readiness

Today, I will acknowledge that the idea of your wrath is confusing because _________.

I need to see your justice come to _________, because it seems like evil is winning.

Turning to Scripture in times of hardship or when you’re in need of guidance is a great way to connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. Visit this page for more Scripture meditations.
