Scripture Meditation: 1 Peter 5:6-7

SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

1 Peter 5:5-7 Reading the Bible is a fantastic way to connect with God. However, it can be hard to know how to start reading the Bible. So, we put together some Scripture meditations to help you get started reading Scripture

I Want to Be in Control

It takes humility to trust that God’s care for you is better than your own.

We make so many plans for ourselves. We know exactly what we need and how to get it, right? So when things don’t go our way, we anxiously tighten the reins and try to white-knuckle our way back on course. But the more we attempt to control, the more we end up losing it.

What if God’s inviting us to let go? There’s no need for self-preservation in God’s kingdom. You’ll get where you’re going because God wants you to be there, and you’ll get there right on time because he’s never late (like a wizard ?).

1 Peter 5:5-7

5 All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Observations from the Text

  • God honors humility (v. 5)
  • God’s strong enough to lift you up (v. 6)
  • God cares about you (v. 7)
