SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Navigating a journey through Lent is not something we should do alone. So we put together some simple prayers to help us connect with God in our Lent journey. Jump into this season of Lent with this prayer below!

Journey Through Lent, Day 6

God does not want us to only call to him when we are feeling good. God wants to walk with us in our deep, gut-punching pain, grief, and anger as well.

So pick up any grief you’re carrying around (even the latent stuff), and join us as we let Psalm 38 guide us through a prayer of lament as we explore how to lament to God!

A Prayer of Lament

God from whom nothing is hidden, you know the depth of my pain, and every little way it’s causing grief in my heart. Please equip a few good friends to also see and know me deeply—friends who can walk with me through this season. And as my strong refuge, protect me from losing sight of the light at the end of this dark tunnel, and give me strength to rise up again.

Scripture: Psalm 38:9-11

“All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart pounds, my strength fails me; even the light has gone from my eyes. My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away.”
