What’s Next: Your Dream Job, God’s Call, and a Life That Sets You Free

$17.00

Description

Find fulfillment and freedom in your career and ministry as you discover God’s will for your life.

Scripture has outlined everything we need for guidance, direction, and a peace-filled life. What’s Next points you to God’s Word to help you move forward when life seems like it’s standing still.

Daniel Ryan Day found this to be true as he struggled to find God’s call on his life. Day had expected that “dream job” and “God’s call” would be the same. But what he discovered when he searched Scripture set him free from frustration so he could confidently step forward in God’s will.

Sometimes while we wait for clear-cut advice from the Almighty, we miss what He’s already directed us to do. Learn from Day’s experience and see how God’s directives can give you a life that sets you free.

What’s Next includes discussion questions to help you process what you’ve learned through Scripture and guide you toward your next steps.

We’ve been taught to value hard work, to try our best, to strive for perfection. And while it’s normal and good to have high expectations, and to work toward improvement, that last point– striving for perfection, is where so many of us get hung up.

A desire to do things perfectly often brings with it anxiety and exhaustion. Trying to never mess up results in comparison and shame.

We’re holding ourselves to a standard that we hold no one else to… and one that’s impossible to achieve. A standard that will only leave us feeling inadequate or like a failure. We might even find ourselves falling into apathy, wondering why we should bother at all if we’re not going to be perfect.

Friends, no one expects you to be perfect– least of all God. We were all made and called very good, even as he gifted us with limitations and weaknesses. Let yourself remember: Jesus was perfect so you don’t have to be.

If you’re struggling with the pressure to be perfect, we hope you find freedom with this verse and prayer.

𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦
Spotless Lamb of God, you lived perfectly so that I may have forgiveness. You love me perfectly so that I may have peace. In the moments when I’m tempted to strive for the impossibility of perfection, remind me that I’ve already been made perfect in you. Help me embrace my moments of failure and weakness, and still see myself as you do: very good. Free me from the idol of perfectionism, this pressure I put on myself, and lead me instead to take comfort in your perfect love. Amen.
Wanna hear some good news? Jesus is King! All things in heaven and on Earth are under his rule... and he is GOOD. Even on hard days, we can trust that he's working it all out. Try this breath prayer with us, praising him for being our Lord.

"The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice" (Psalm 97:1).

Breath Prayer is a way of aligning your breathing with a short prayer or psalm, in order to slow you down and draw you closer to God. You only need a line or two of scripture to help ground and comfort you in the truths of his nearness and his love.
Fresh air. A breeze. Standing in a moving river with a fly pole. 🎣

Watching a sunset over the mountains. ⛺Sleeping in a tent. S’MORES! The outdoors aren’t for everyone, but if you’re still reading this, they’re probably for you! 😄

What is it about nature that can make the world feel okay again? Why do worries and anxious thoughts flow away when a Copper John is on the end of a fly line? Could it be that, for some of us, creation makes us feel closest to our Creator? Is there something that’s, well, just 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 about being outside?

If you’re one of those people that comes to life when you’re surrounded by trees, mountains, or trout... this prayer is for you.

𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞
“In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land” (Psalm 95:4-5).

Creator God, at the beginning of time, your voice brought light into the darkness. Your hands shaped dry land. Your creativity exploded in colors, shapes, and smells. Your breath brought life to all creatures. As I step outside, may I discover the light of your presence, hear your purpose-giving voice of direction, and be amazed and inspired by your creativity. And as I breathe in fresh air, may you fill me with the breath of your Spirit who brings me true peace, rest, and strength. Amen.
