Simplicity
Simplicity
Make more room for God in your schedule, your space, and your mind.
Feeling cluttered and distracted?
It’s no mistake that minimalism and “tidying up” are popular trends; a deep part of each of us longs for a simple life. But simplicity isn’t just about what’s in our closets and on our calendars; it’s about orienting our whole lives around God. To do that, we’re invited to let go of things we find ourselves attached to, trusting that Jesus was onto something when he told us not to worry about what to wear or eat, but instead, to simply seek God’s kingdom (Matthew 6:25-34). Here are some ways to do just that in your ordinary life.
Level 1: Novice
Read Matthew 6:19-34. Ask God to help you identify what material things cause too much worry in your life and how you can trust him in that area.
Make your coffee at home for a week instead of going to the cafe.

Level 2: Apprentice
Look at your weekly schedule, and try to remove something that isn’t life-giving or helpful to you or others.
Spend this entire month reading and meditating on only one Bible passage.
Create a budget, and identify the areas in which you’re most tempted to overspend.
Spend extended time journaling about what you desire in this season of your life, and ask God to reveal to you his desire for you.
Level 3: Master
Read Luke 3:10-11. Find a way to give your excess (clothes, money, food, etc.) to someone in need.
Turn your smartphone into a “dumb phone” by setting time limits, blocking content, turning it to black and white, and deleting unnecessary apps.
Choose a period of time, like a month, or a whole year, to participate in a “buy nothing” challenge! Try to only purchase consumables, like food, hygiene products, fuel, etc.
