SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

A simple prayer is all it takes to connect with God everyday. And if you don’t know how to pray, no worries! We’ve got you covered. Check out this simple prayer below to get started!

Pray for Your Kids

Dropping your kid off at school is both exciting and it kind of hurts a bit. It’s exciting to see them make friends, be under the influence of other adults, and grow in their understanding of how the world works. But there’s also that little bit of sadness that creeps in—even on the days you need a break—as you see your little boy or girl walk through those big glass doors at school or up the stairs into the bus.

School brings up so many emotions, doesn’t it?!—the joy of getting a break, the excitement of growth, the worry that your kid will get hurt, the concern you have about education these days, and the pain of knowing that at some point some other kids will say something hurtful.

And maybe the biggest thing that becomes clear? You are reminded that you don’t have as much control over the life of your little buddy or girlie as you wish you had. So next time they’re at school, pray for your kids—check out this prayer (which is for them, but kind of for you too):

A Prayer for My Kids at School

Creator God, who knit my kid(s) together, and knows them inside and out, grow them in the right ways today. Good Father, who loves my kid(s) more than I ever could, lead them to what’s best. Comforter and Healer, protect my kid(s) as they experience the brokenness of the world and of relationships, and help them become resilient through your strength. Help me be like you, and become a safe place for my kids to find refuge within the world. And give me wisdom as I prepare them for another day tomorrow. Amen.

Scripture: “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:9-11)!
