God’s Good Gifts…for Others!

When we have a deep longing for something good and significant in our lives, waiting around and 𝘯𝘰𝘵 getting it can create a sort of homesickness in our hearts. And it’s especially devastating to see really good things (deep friendships, meaningful community, beautiful babies, thriving marriages, happy families) all around us, and be left wondering, “Why God? Why do you withhold this thing from me?”

Whatever it is you have a deep longing for, we want to remind you (and ourselves), that we do serve a really good God. He’s a Father who knows (and loves!) each of us deeply, and he desires to give us really good gifts. He’s done it before, and he’ll do it again.

A Prayer for God’s Provision

Father of love, who gives good gifts, and satisfies the desires of our hearts, please grant me my request for _________, or transform my desires to what is best for your glory and my good. And as I wait for your provision and your timing, give me the gift of trust and confidence in your goodness. Amen.

Scripture: “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:11)!
