SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE
Proverbs 11:25
The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesnโt mean your faith is weak, or that youโre doing something wrongโso donโt get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and donโt know how to pray, or simply donโt feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.ย
When I Donโt Have a Generous Spirit
How do I give when I donโt have much to begin with? Times have been tough. Moneyโs been tight. I donโt want to take for granted the blessings I do have, but how can I fill the needs of others from an empty cup?
We get it. Weโve been there too. Generosity can be one of those words that brings up feelings of discomfort. Itโs not that you donโt *want* to be generous, you just arenโt sure you have the capacity to, right?
โA generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshedโ (Proverbs 11:25).
Trust the Lord in a radicalโand creativeโway. And, while we shouldnโt expect it, sometimes having a generous spirit toward others can give God a chance to bless us too.
Where to start? Weโre using our Prayer for Generosity, to thank him for what weโve been given and to ask for inspiration as to how we can be more like him.
A Prayer for Generosity
God who notices the widow and her tiny but generous gift, and who knows what it means to give all, may your spirit of generosity come over me. Let me be creative in what I view as plenty. Father, help me find ways to offer those things which I do have in service to you. Give me opportunities to bless others from the gifts you have given me. Amen.
