SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Proverbs 11:25

The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesnโ€™t mean your faith is weak, or that youโ€™re doing something wrongโ€”so donโ€™t get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and donโ€™t know how to pray, or simply donโ€™t feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.ย

When I Donโ€™t Have a Generous Spirit

How do I give when I donโ€™t have much to begin with? Times have been tough. Moneyโ€™s been tight. I donโ€™t want to take for granted the blessings I do have, but how can I fill the needs of others from an empty cup?

We get it. Weโ€™ve been there too. Generosity can be one of those words that brings up feelings of discomfort. Itโ€™s not that you donโ€™t *want* to be generous, you just arenโ€™t sure you have the capacity to, right?

โ€œA generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshedโ€ (Proverbs 11:25).

Trust the Lord in a radicalโ€“and creativeโ€“way. And, while we shouldnโ€™t expect it, sometimes having a generous spirit toward others can give God a chance to bless us too.

Where to start? Weโ€™re using our Prayer for Generosity, to thank him for what weโ€™ve been given and to ask for inspiration as to how we can be more like him.

A Prayer for Generosity

God who notices the widow and her tiny but generous gift, and who knows what it means to give all, may your spirit of generosity come over me. Let me be creative in what I view as plenty. Father, help me find ways to offer those things which I do have in service to you. Give me opportunities to bless others from the gifts you have given me. Amen.
