Scripture Meditation: Psalm 98:7-9

SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Psalm 98:7-9 Scripture meditations like this one help us connect with God each day and help us recognize reasons why the Bible is relevant today.

What Happens at the End?

Okay, so talking about end times can get weird. Like, really weird. There are 1,000,000 different theologies and arguments about what’s gonna happen, and some of them seem a whole lot scarier than others.

What do we believe? How should we think about God’s coming judgment?

Well. We don’t have one answer for you! Can you imagine the comments on that one, lol?

But, we do think the fact that God is our judge is something to be celebrated! Not in a morbid, “God’s gonna get ‘em!” sorta way… but because the character of God has already been revealed to us in the whole story of scripture. Yes, God is just. But, his justice is loving. His justice is merciful. His justice is righteous. His justice is equitable. His justice encapsulates all that he accomplished on the cross and continues to accomplish in us every day, through his Spirit.

So, whatever happens, we can have trust and confidence that we’ll find it perfectly good. And, that is something to be celebrated.

Psalm 98:7-9

“7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it,

    the world, and all who live in it.

8 Let the rivers clap their hands,

    let the mountains sing together for joy;

9 let them sing before the Lord,

    for he comes to judge the earth.

He will judge the world in righteousness

    and the peoples with equity.”
