SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

Do you ever read Scripture and find yourself wondering, “is the Bible relevant today?” We definitely feel that disconnect. So we’ve set out to make Scripture meditations that give us a framework for how to start reading the Bible. Join us as we let the Bible be the Bible, and learn to engage with it meaningfully.

Can Science and Faith Coexist?

Faith and science can feel like they’re in constant competition! Especially if you have that one intelligent friend that’s deep in academia and loves posing impossible questions that you can’t even start to find an answer to yourself (we’re not speaking from experience or anything…).

God’s bigness can be…tough to believe. Like, how mind-bending is it to think about God living outside of our concept of time and never having been created?!

While it’s kinda freaky to think about big unanswered questions, it’s also strangely comforting. Because if we could legit get our minds around God, then he probably wouldn’t be God, right? God needs to be THAT big. And because he’s so big, none of the crazy life stuff that happens surprises him, or is out of his control.

Reading through this Scripture meditation on Psalm 90 helps in understanding how God is bigger than us and how it’s actually a good thing.

Psalm 90:1-2

1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place

    throughout all generations.

2 Before the mountains were born

or you brought forth the whole world,

from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He has been (and continues to be) a safe place (v. 1)
  • He has always been, and is beyond time (v. 2)
  • He created the whole world (v. 2)
