SCRIPTURE REFERENCE
The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesn’t mean your faith is weak, or that you’re doing something wrong—so don’t get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and don’t know how to pray, or simply don’t feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.
Going to a Show
There’s something about live performances—whether it’s a play, a concert, or a dance—that makes the world feel more alive. The way art can move you, awaken wonder, or make you feel seen is no small thing. And, you’re not just witnessing creativity, but sharing in it. You sit shoulder to shoulder with friends, neighbors, or strangers, united in an experience of something bigger than yourself. And in that moment, we get a glimpse of something deeper.
God, the original Creator, created us to be creative (yes, that’s lots of create words together!)—crafted to express, move, speak, and stir one another through beauty. When we step into a space filled with aesthetics, storytelling, and sound, we’re catching a glimpse of his design in motion. And when we gather to experience human creativity, we’re participating in a shadow of the sacred: shared ceremony, community, and delight in what’s good. It’s often more than entertainment—it’s evidence of his image in us.
Whether it’s a sold-out arena or a small recital, here’s a prayer to ground you in gratitude for the gifts of artistry, imagination, and togetherness. An opportunity to give thanks for the gift of art, the power of performance, and the God who delights in it all.
“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer” (1 Timothy 4:4–5).
A Prayer for Watching a Live Performance
God of creativity, you made a world bursting with beauty and skill. As I watch this performance unfold, fill me with wonder at human artistry—reflections of your own creativity. Let this moment lift my spirit, awaken my imagination, and remind me of the joy you have in your creation. May I leave inspired, grateful, and more aware of the unique ways you’ve made us to express your light. Amen.
We believe a simple prayer like this helps us in our mission to creatively explore how we connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. For more everyday prayers, visit this page!
