Fall Is Here
Fall is a time of change. Leaves turn from bright green into vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows. Our routine changes from sitting on a blanket at the beach to curling up under one with a cup of hot coffee in hand. Instead of prepping our skin with layers of sunscreen, we wrap ourselves in layers of clothing.
Change can be fun and exciting, but it can also remind us, while everything else is changing, our circumstances aren’t. We’re stuck asking God for the same thing we’ve been asking for for a while.
This can be frustrating and leave us wondering why he wouldn’t give us what we’re praying for when it makes so much sense to us.
In these times of disappointment, we can remember the truth of who God is: a loving and caring Father who is even more aware of our needs than we are and promises to meet them.
We can be confident that, while he might not meet every one of our wants, he will provide us with what we need. Change will come in God’s timing. Until then, we can trust that in each season, even one without any changing leaves, he gives us purpose and space for growth in the waiting.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
A Prayer for the Changing of Leaves
Provider of Needs, who is attentive to and cares deeply for me, thank you for your beautiful creation that changes colors with the seasons. Remind me when I yearn for change in my own life and don’t receive it, that you know my needs more than I do. Help me to embrace the season I’m in, knowing that purpose and growth are in the waiting. Amen.
