SCRIPTURE REFERENCE
The Christian prayer life can sometimes feel stale. It doesn’t mean your faith is weak, or that you’re doing something wrong—so don’t get hung up on it! It just happens. But if you want to connect with God and don’t know how to pray, or simply don’t feel like praying…then these everyday prayers are for you.
Having a Pet Is the Best
They steal our socks, take up half the bed, and somehow always know when we’re eating something good. Pets make life a little messier—but also a whole lot better. Whether you’ve got a dog that acts like a shadow, a cat who tolerates your existence, or another little critter, taking care of them is a daily act of love.
God has given us animals as companions, and in feeding them, cleaning up after them (again), and making sure they feel safe and loved, we get a small glimpse of his care for us. And let’s be honest—our pets love us no matter what, which is a pretty good reflection of grace.
So, whether your pet is currently curled up beside you or causing absolute chaos, here’s a Scripture and a prayer for this everyday act of care.
“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made” (Psalm 145:9).
A Prayer for Taking Care of a Pet
Creator and Keeper of All, you care for the sparrows and call each creature good. Thank you for the companionship and joy this pet brings. In feeding, walking, playing, or even cleaning up messes, remind me of your constant care for me. Through loving my pet, teach me to love faithfully, serve willingly, and delight in the simple goodness of your creation. Amen.
