SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE
The prayer life of a Christian can feel exhausting sometimes. Here is one of our simple prayers written to help you grow in your prayer life and connect with God, especially if you don’t feel like praying. Check it out!
Delicious Soups
Stick Season? More like… soup season! Which, let’s be real, is just about one of the best culinary moments of the year. Because soup is a gift that keeps on giving—the loaves and fishes of dinnertime.
Hardly anything left in the cupboard? Make a soup! Have leftover veggies from a fall garden that shouldn’t go to waste? Soup can fix that. Can’t figure out what to serve a big group of people? Soup to go around for days.
Nothing warms our hearts and bellies quite like a giant bowl of soup. And, the flavor possibilities? Endless. Is it weird how into soup we are? Not even a little bit (okay, maybe a little bit, we know we’re coming in real hot ((get it?)).
If you’re still tracking, and getting as excited about soup as we are, here’s a prayer and a verse to remind us that even the most ordinary moments, like enjoying a steamy bowl of I-don’t-know-whats-in-this-but-it-tastes-so-good, are opportunities to notice the goodness of God.
“It is better to eat soup with someone you love than steak with someone you hate” (Proverbs 15:17, TLB)
A Prayer for Soup Season
God of leeks and ladles, you placed the Big Dipper in the sky, so you must be into soup too, right? While we don’t love it enough to trade away our birthrights, we sure are thankful you’ve blessed us with the joy and nourishment of simple pleasures. May the blend of unique flavors remind us of the beautiful medley of your creation. May the warmth of the broth remind our souls of the warmth of your love. May we continue to look for you in the simplest (and soupiest) of spaces. Amen.
