A Prayer for Being Stuck in Traffic

SCRIPTURE MEDITATION

Psalm 37:7

A simple prayer is all it takes to connect with God every day. And if you don’t know how to pray, no worries! We’ve got you covered. Check out this simple prayer below to get started!

Bad Traffic Today

Stuck in traffic again? That rising frustration, the urge to check the time every five seconds, the feeling your day is slipping away—it’s all too familiar. But what if even in the gridlock, there’s grace?

When we’re forced to slow down, we get an invitation we didn’t ask for: to be still. Not just physically, but spiritually. To listen instead of scroll. To breathe instead of spiral. To practice patience and notice the small things, like the people around us, buildings we’ve never noticed before, or the God who’s always present, even in detours.

Next time your car isn’t moving, here’s a Scripture and a prayer to turn traffic into a moment of trust.

“Be still before the Lord

and wait patiently for him” (Psalm 37:7).

A Prayer for Being Stuck in Traffic

Waymaker, who led your people through the wilderness by cloud and fire, slow my agitated heart. In this traffic standstill, remind me that you are present in waiting. Use this delay to teach me patience, to open my eyes to the needs around me, and to make space for gratitude instead of frustration. Help me release my need for control and trust that even detours are known to you. Amen.
