Reading the Bible is an important part of how we can grow in our faith, but we know many people question why the Bible is not relevant for today. With its old language and confusing references, it can feel irrelevant or disconnected. But these Scripture meditations are meant to help us bridge that disconnect and encounter reasons why the Bible IS relevant.
Finding True Joy
Most of us would say we’d like to be finding true joy. Sure, we experience joy-filled moments (birthday parties, weddings, family gatherings, births, etc.), but in the context of our whole life, those moments can feel few and far between, and honestly, a little overshadowed by the hard, sad seasons.
Scripture invites us to find joy even in hard things (James 1:2), to rejoice always (Philippians 4:4), and to be filled with “all joy” (Romans 15:13).
But we can’t make ourselves feel joyful.
Join us in this Scripture meditation that focuses on the kind of sustaining joy we can experience in God’s presence!
Psalm 16:9-11
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
What This Teaches Us about God
- We can find security in him (v. 9)
- He does not abandon his people (v. 10)
- He shows us the path of life (v. 11)
- He fills us with joy (v. 11)
