SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

How to get started reading the Bible”—we’ve all googled it before. No matter how far you’ve come on your faith journey, reading the Bible can be hard! We’re right there with you. We see these Scripture meditations as a way to read Scripture in a digestible way. Let’s start together, one verse at a time!

Keep Calm, God Is on Your Side

In the monotony of work that doesn’t excite you, in the middle of another argument with your wife where you’re not even sure what you’re fighting about, or when the job you thought was perfect for you sends a familiar “we’ve chosen another candidate” email…keep calm, God is on your side.

No matter what you’re processing today, he is there with you. And sometimes, taking a minute to remind our tired selves who God is can help that assurance to feel encouraging. Instead of defeat or weariness laying claim, you can keep your footing by remembering these truths:

Isaiah 40:28-29

28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

What This Teaches Us about God

  • He endures through all time (v. 28)
  • He designed the whole world (v. 28)
  • He doesn’t get tired (v. 28)
  • He shares his strength with those who need it (v. 29)

Prayers of Response

Lord, I trust that you have a deep understanding as to why _________ is happening/happened, though I’m still struggling with it.

I admit that _________ is making me feel incredibly tired. I know I need your strength, but I don’t feel it right now.

Prayer Requests

As _________ (name) is dealing with _________, empower them to persevere in a way that honors you and others.

I think that one source of my weariness is _________. Would you show me how I can get the rest I need in this area of my life?

Prayers of Readiness

As I keep going in my day, I will practice reflecting on how cool it is that you created all things, even _________.

Lord, I will stop trying to do _________ by my own strength, but instead, I’ll practice trusting you to show me how (or if) you want me to do it.

Turning to Scripture in times of hardship or when you’re in need of guidance is a great way to connect with God in the ordinary, extraordinary, everyday moments of life. Visit this page for more Scripture meditations.
